SMIT GENSAN JOINS JOBS FAIR & JOB SYMPOSIUM
March 2, 2012 Friday marks a significant day for SMIT General Santos City, TESDA XII and the entire members of the Gensan Sarangani Technical Vocational Schools Association Incorporated (GSTVSAI). The event was sponsored by Goldenstate College with the leadership of the their school’s president Ms. Josie Tirador Yap, MBA and was held at Robinson’s place General Santos City. The event is yearly done by Goldenstate College with their mission to help their students land a job and since the GSTVSAI president is Ms. Yap she collaborated with the TESDA and other relevant agencies like DOLE XII. The event started at around 9:48 in the morning properly opened by Mr. Warren A. Manilay, MNSA the chief Executive officer of Goldenstate College. Mr. Manilay happily opened the program with enthusiasm and gratefully thanked the people, students, GSTVSAI staff, the jobseekers and employers who attended and extended their time in finding prospect employees.
The JOBS FAIR was also supported by US Department of Homeland & Security US embassy Manila.
Few minutes, after the speech of Mr. Manilay, the introduction of the keynote speaker followed. The emcee called one of the faculty members of Goldenstate to introduce the speaker. During the introduction of the speaker I was amazed with his background. A lawayer, a father, and a principled man with good scholastic records. Everyone warmly welcomed the keynote speaker, with respect to him all of us stood up and clap our hands. As a public speaking instructor I am extremely particular with the speaker’s gestures, words, and matter and manner of speaking. Amazingly perfect. The introduction, the voice and his ability to elicit audience’s attention was perfectly done. I was so glad and amazed with our Deputy Director General of TESDA Central Office Director Teodoro C. Pascua. A principled man, full of wit, noteworthy words of wisdom that could capture the jobs seekers and students. His words undoubtedly remains in every audience’s minds. He encouraged all the school administrators, school owners about the significance of having a technical school. He stressed out that everyone has to have a skills so that one day it can be used for applying a job abroad and local. He even challenge every Filipinos by being so proud of who we are as Filipinos internationally and locally. He mentioned specifically the Filipino workers abroad about what they had contributed to the Philippines’ image as workers outside the country. Director Pascua also challenged his co government employees to be honest and avoid corruption in the public office and should not tolerate bad deeds and should support the PNOY’s program, zero corruption. Everyone clapped their hands. I was setting in front and vividly heard all his words, the entire content of his speech are very significant. I don’t want to miss every single moment of his speech as if I was witnessing live elocution from a brilliant speaker wherein the speech is brilliantly well arranged. Maam Bong, our school accountant was also delighted she was setting beside me. One thing also I appreciated that day is that the owner of the school SMIT GENSAN, Maam Josephine Señeres joined the said event, even though she was not feeling well, she extended time for us here in SMIT Gensan branch. I personally congratulate Maam Josie Tirador Yap president of GSTVSAI and her colleague for the invitation and having the event be participated by GSTVSAI members. Two thumbs up for you Maam Josie from SMIT GENSAN
