ANG LEE’S LIFE OF PI: A MUST SEE FILM

After watching Ang Lee’s Life of Pi,  I was in the state of nostalgia. All the scenes from the movie reminded me of what life is in the sea, how to survive the hopeless and miserable life in the middle of the ocean. I could say, a relating story for I grew up in an Island, and I  used to travel a boat. Ang Lee’s realization in creating this movie greatly  gives impact on me not as a moviegoer but as a person whose life is always at stake when  travelling from Balut Island to General Santos City.

ON QUEST FOR GOD’S EXISTENCE

LIFE OF PI is a story of survival, religion, choice and decision, friendship, principle and a quest for God’s existence. In life, sometimes we have to be tough especially when conscience tries to test us on how to be benevolent. God endowed us a freedom to choose what kind of life we wanted to be.  There was a scene in the movie when Pi has a belief that the beast would not eat him, but he was scolded by his father said “You think tiger is your friend? He is an animal, not a playmate but Pi insisted and said that animals have souls. A very interesting movie that ultimately touches your soul. A life of a family where trying to survive the test of time.

Ang Lee’s presentation of story in Life of Pi was a magnificent; he was able to combine religion, business, love of animals and family in one movie. Pi a young and innocent boy continuous to search the true meaning of life with God. He had been into many religions Hinduism, Muslim and life with Jesus Christ. There was a scene in the movie where Pi got into the church and notices the pictures representing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ then he question the priest that If Jesus would be God why he let himself nail on the cross just because of the sin of the people. The priest then said For God loves the world so he let him self suffer for them, and that made Pi so humble and praise Jesus  Christ as God the savior even the time when he was floating in the ocean for how many days and survive. Every moment he suffers from the big waves that jolted his small boat he would always praise and thank God for his life.

ON SURVIVAL OF LIFE AT SEA
Life of Pi definitely a wonderful film especially on the scene where Pi was surviving his life at sea with the tiger. Pi was able to use his intelligence and innovativeness on how to survive for how many days in the middle of the vast ocean. The film was perfectly done showing the life of a survivor. Pi was a brilliant boy full of courage and determination, yet his determination almost gone. Nevertheless Pi prayed to God and God send him to the unknown island somewhere in Mexico.
The Life of Pi is a film of hope and courage.

What I've learned  from the film is that we should always be ready. Accidents and other circumstances are inevitable. It may happen everywhere, anywhere and anytime. We should always thank God  for all the good things he has done, he has given, and he has prepared for us in the future. We should always take care our environment and also the animals. The beauty of nature is the beauty of mankind. Lets take care everything in this world because it is not ours it is Gods’.

Generally I give five ( 5 stars)  to Ang Lee’s performance in directing and giving life to the film. I have been his fan. I remember his Award winning movie The Brokeback Mountain. Ang Lee’s  films almost touches every heart of viewers because of his wonderful and realistic presentation of the story.  Thanks to Bryan Onate for sponsoring me to see the Life of Pi in the theater.  Great Film

UNFORGETABLE QUOTES IN LIFE OF PI

Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?' Mr. Okamoto: 'That's an interesting question?' Mr. Chiba: 'The story with animals.' Mr. Okamoto: 'Yes. The story with animals is the better story.' Pi Patel: 'Thank you. And so it goes with God.”
